One of the fields of cooperation within COOMET includes activities on legal metrology, aimed at:

• analysis of documents and  recommendations of  OIML and other RLMOs  for adoption or tailoring to the needs of COOMET;
• development of metrological control procedures for measuring instruments and measuring systems, including those, based on new technologies (i.e. software, data processing, device communication);
• resolving the issues of inter-state cooperation and mutual recognition of the results of metrological control in the field of legal metrology (prepackages and measuring instruments etc.) as well as results of work of testing laboratories engaged in type approval, verification laboratories and other parties (including evaluation criteria).

TC 2 "Legal metrology" coordinates cooperation of countries in this field.
