May 20, 2019 - World Metrology Day! Theme of World Metrology Day 2019: "The International System of Units – Fundamentally better"

On 20 May metrologists of all countries celebrate the World Metrology Day. The quest for improving accuracy of measurements has resulted in one of the greatest scientific events of the past year – redefinition of the International System of Units (SI). At the General Conference on Weights and Measures in November 2018 a historic vote took place, during which the SI units (metre, second, mole, ampere, kelvin, candela and kilogram) began to be defined by fundamental physical constants.

29th COOMET Committee meeting

The 29th COOMET Committee meeting was held on 3-4 April 2019 in Dresden, Germany. COOMET–BIPM Workshop "CIPM MRA review outcomes: comparisons and CMCs"

2 April 2019, Dresden, Germany, the one-day COOMET–BIPM workshop was held for the Chairpersons of TC 1.1 – TC 1.12, TC 3.1 due to the expected revision of the CIPM MRA within the BIPM Capacity Building & Knowledge Transfer Programme (CB&KT) and also SC 4.1 "Capacity building in the field of education and knowledge transfer".
