08.12.2022: 26th online meeting of TC 1.6 "Mass and Related Quantities"

The 26th meeting of TC 1.6 was organized by the Acting Chair of TC 1.6 Viktoriya Bogdanova (VNIIM, Russia) and was held on 8 December 2022 online. Over 40 specialists from 11 COOMET member countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Cuba, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan) took part in the meeting.

 

The main results of the TC 1.6 activities in 2022 and development plans for 2023 were discussed at the meeting.

The focus of the meeting was on discussion of the implementation of all TC 1.6 comparisons (14 projects in total) and possible actions to complete them.

Proposals of Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were discussed in detail on the organization of comparisons at the levels of accuracy, meeting the CEEMS needs.

The meeting participants also discussed the implementation of program COOMET 6/2021 "COOMET Roadmap for the Implementation of Decisions Related to the Redefinition of the Basic Units of the International System of Units (SI) for 2020-2025" in terms of the kilogram, as well as update of the list of technical experts on CMC review and peer review of the QMS of NMIs/DIs in the field "Mass and Related Quantities".

 

At the meeting, elections for vacant positions within TC 1.6 were held. Head of the VNIIM Research Laboratory of National Standards in the Field of Mass and Force Ilya Shmigelskiy was elected the Chair of TC 1.6 and SC 1.6.2 "Force". The Deputy Head of the mentioned laboratory Viktoriya Bogdanova became the Chair of SC 1.6.1 "Mass". A representative of the Azerbaijan Institute of Metrology Tamilla Shabieva was elected a Deputy TC 1.6 Chair.

The issue of the offices of TC 1.6, SC 1.6.1 and SC 1.6.2 Chairs will be submitted for adoption of the Presidential Council and for approval of the COOMET Committee in 2023.

 

The next TC 1.6 meeting is scheduled for May 2023.
