15-16.11.2022: 19th online meeting of COOMET TC 1.10 "Thermometry and Thermal Physics"

The 19th meeting of TC 1.10 was held online on November 15 to 16, 2022. Specialists from 10 COOMET member countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russian Federation, Тajikistan, Uzbekistan) took part in the meeting.

During the meeting the results of TC 1.10 activities in 2022 and development plans for 2023 were discussed.

A detailed discussion of the progress in implementing all COOMET comparisons took place:

  • Supplementary comparisons of measurement standards of dew point temperature (COOMET project 851/RU/21);
  • Supplementary comparisons of standards for relative humidity unit (COOMET project 826/MD-a/21 (COOMET.T-S5));
  • Comparisons in the field of measurements of combustion energy of coals with different sulphur content (COOMET project 744/RU-a/18 (COOMET.T-S4));
  • Comparisons of temperature national standards at the triple point of mercury (COOMET project 704/RU-a/16 (COOMET.T-K9.1));
  • Pilot comparisons in the area of platinum resistance thermometers calibration (COOMET project 787/UZ-a/19);
  • Pilot comparisons of national reference gas calorimeters using samples
    of gas mixtures (COOMET project 780/RU-a/19);
  • Pilot comparisons in the area of platinum resistance thermometers calibration in fixed points from triple point of mercury (-38.8344 °С)
    to melting point of gallium (29.7646 °С) (COOMET project 771/MD-a/18).

The meeting participants supported the proposals on the organization of new COOMET comparisons of dew point temperature standards, relative humidity standards, pilot comparisons in the field of measuring the calorific value of alternative fuels, as well as proposals on the organization of new comparisons for the NMI of CEEMS (for glass thermometers, digital thermometers, resistance thermometers, relative humidity hygrometers).

Regarding the implementation of the CIPM MRA, discussion was held on streamlining the procedure of intra- and interregional CMC review within TC 1.10 and updating of the list of technical experts on CMC review.

As part of the discussion of program COOMET P6/2021 "COOMET Roadmap for the implementation of decisions related to the redefinition
of the basic units of the International System of Units SI for 2020-2025", a decision was made to hold a COOMET workshop in 2023 on the problems
of reproduction of Kelvin in accordance with its new definition and its implementation in the practice of temperature measurement.

The next TC 1.10 meeting is scheduled for September-October 2023.
