19.09.2023: 35th COOMET Committee meeting

On 19 September 2023, an extraordinary 35th COOMET Committee meeting was held online, where COOMET Committee members or their official representatives from 13 countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, China, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan) participated.
The major decision of the meeting was the early assumption of office of the COOMET President by Gabit MUKHAMBETOV (Director General of RSE "KazStandard", Kazakhstan) starting from 19 September 2023, owing to the resignation of Valery HUREVICH (Belarus) as President.
The term of office of Gabit MUKHAMBETOV is 3 years (from September 2023 to September 2026) according to paragraphs 2 and 7 of section 5 of document COOMET D1/2022 with the possibility of one extension.
Ainur RAKHADINOVA (KazStandard, Kazakhstan) was appointed the Head of COOMET Secretariat. She was also approved as the Acting Chair of TC 4 "Information and Training".
The COOMET Committee endorsed the candidatures of COOMET Vice-Presidents and fields of cooperation that they will coordinate:
- Evgeny LAZARENKO (Russia): Cooperation in the field of measurement standards;
- Mustafa CETINTAS (Türkiye): Сooperation in the field of development and peer review of quality management systems. Joint scientific research;
- Xinhua DAI (China): Cooperation with countries with emerging metrology systems.
- Lazizbek SAIDORIPOV (Uzbekistan): Cooperation in the field of legal metrology.
It was agreed that in addition to general management of COOMET, the COOMET President also coordinates cooperation with international and regional metrology organizations and issues related to information and knowledge transfer.
