25.03.2023: International scientific and practical conference "Measurements as the Basis of Global Trust"






On 25 May 2023 an International scientific and practical conference "Measurements as the Basis of Global Trust", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of metrology in Kazakhstan, took place in Astana, Kazakhstan.
For reference: the first institution in the territory of Kazakhstan, whose tasks included determination of the suitability of instruments for use, appeared in 1923 as a Semipalatinsk branch of the Omsk Verification Chamber. A monument was erected in Semey in 2023 in honor of the anniversary date.
Over 300 specialists of the national metrological service of Kazakhstan, scientists, experts, industry representatives of the Republic took part in the conference, along with guests from international (OIML, BIPM, IMEKO, UNIDO) and regional organizations (COOMET, GULFMET, EASC). Representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, China, Russia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan were among the guests and speakers of the conference.
As part of the conference, a plenary meeting was held, involving representatives of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Technical Regulation and Metrology Committee, as well as three panel sessions:
I session: Digital metrology;
II session: Human capital: trends and the future of metrology;
III session: Role of metrology in quality infrastructure.
The COOMET President Valery Hurevich presented a report "COOMET: Main outcomes and development trends" at the Plenary meeting. The Head of COOMET Secretariat Nadezhda Liakhova gave a presentation "The role of COOMET in knowledge transfer in the field of metrology" at panel session II.
At the conference, awards and certificates of appreciation for the contribution to the development of the metrology of Kazakhstan were presented, and solemn awarding with diplomas and badges of honor took place for the specialist of COOMET member countries who were given the distinguished title "Honorary Metrologist of COOMET", namely: Garik Martirosyan (Armenia); Tamilla Shabiyeva (Azerbaijan); Vadim Popko (Belarus); Meirtas Zhamanbalin (Kazakhstan); Ulan Moldaganapov (Kazakhstan); Gulzhan Tleshova (Kazakhstan); Konstantin Chekirda (Russia).
