On September 27-28, 2023, the 27th meeting of TC 1.6 "Mass and related quantities" was held in hybrid format under the guidance of the chairman of TC 1.6. Ilya Shmigelsky, Head of the Research Laboratory of State Standards in the field of mass and force measurements of All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Metrology named after D.I. Mendeleev (VNIIM, Rosstandart). The meeting was attended by the representatives of national metrology institutes of COOMET member-countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan. Mr. Anton Pronin, General Director of VNIIM, welcomed the participants of the meeting and introduced the Russian delegation.

During two days the participants discussed a wide range of issues. TC Chairperson presented the report on the Committee's activity for the past period and updated working program for the next period. The specialists discussed the implementation of the current COOMET comparisons and new comparisons proposed by the countries with emerging metrology systems (CEEMS) in the field of mass, force and torque, pressure and vacuum, density and viscosity and small volumes measurements. Agreements were reached on new comparisons in the field of mass measurement in the range from 1 mg to 5 kg.

During the meeting organizational decisions on TC activities were made, in particular, election of subcommittee chairmen and coordinator of the direction "Gravimetry". Roman Teteruk (VNIIM ) was elected as Chairperson of SC 1.6.3 "Pressure", Andrey Aslanyan (VNIIFTRI) was elected as Chairperson of SC 1.6.4 "Hardness", Anastasiya Aslanyan (VNIIFTRI) was elected as Chairperson of SC 1. 6.5 "Density, viscosity". 6.5 "Density, Viscosity" was elected Anastasia Neklyudova (VNIIM), Leonid Vitushkin (VNIIM) was elected as the coordinator of the direction "Gravimetry". Victor Chechel (VNIIM) was appointed as the Secretary of TC 1.6.

It was also proposed to unite TC 1.4 "Flowmetry" and TC 1.6 "Mass and related quantities" in the format of joining TC 1.4 as a subcommittee within TC 1.6. This proposal was agreed with the members of TC 1.6 with participation of the Chairman of TC 1.4 Roman Korneev (VNIIR - branch of VNIIM).

The merger proposal will be considered at the next meeting of TC 1.4 and then sent for approval at the meeting of COOMET President's Council.
