28.09.2022: 31st online meeting of the COOMET Presidential Council

The 31st meeting of the COOMET Presidential Council was held online on 28 September 2022. Members of the Presidential Council from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, as well as representatives of national secretariats of those countries took part in the meeting.

 

The following main outcomes of the meeting should be noted:

  1. results of the survey among COOMET Commitee members were preliminarily discussed to define their visions of possible options to enhance cooperation without changing the organizational and legal form of COOMET;  the issue will be further considered at the 33rd COOMET Committee meeting (25 to 27 October 2022);
  2. proposals on the update of the objectives, tasks and fields of cooperation in document COOMET D1/2020 "Memorandum of Understanding" were discussed and will also be submitted for review to the COOMET Committee;
  3. it was agreed to establish a task group on the issues of making amendments to the fundamental COOMET documents whose tasks will include analysis of the work practices of other regional organizations in terms of forming the membership criteria, authorities of full and associated members, procedures for accession and termination of membership in the organization, and further preparation of proposals to the Presidential Council and COOMET Committee on the update of documents COOMET D1,  COOMET D2, COOMET D8 (based on consensus among the task group members);
  4. proposals of the Joint Committee for Measurement Standards (JCMS) were discussed regarding new membership of the COOMET Appeal Board on comparisons of national measurement standards and CMC data peer review (it will be submitted to the COOMET Committee for approval);
  5. proposals of the JCMS on the optimization of the completion process for long-standing COOMET comparisons were preliminarily reviewed and discussed.

 

The next COOMET Presidential Council meeting is scheduled for mid-February 2023.
