Meeting of COOMET TC 1.10 "Thermometry and Thermal Physics" and a workshop on humidity
On August 27-29, 2019, the 16th meeting of COOMET TC 1.10 "Thermometry and Thermal Physics", as well as a seminar on current issues in the field of humidity measurements, took place at the East Siberian branch of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise VNIIFTRI (Irkutsk, Russia). Specialists of national metrological institutes of Slovakia, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Germany took part in these events.
In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the European Association of State Metrology Institutes (EURAMET) and COOMET, the meeting was attended by the Chairman of Technical Committee EURAMET TCT Dr. Dolores del Campo Maldonado. She made a very interesting report on the activities of the Euramet TCT technical committee and the EURAMET TCT committee's strategy for measuring thermophysical quantities.
The meeting also heard reports of representatives of VNIIM. DI Mendeleev and VNIIFTRI on the status of work in Russia regarding the introduction into practice of a new definition of Kelvin. The course of work on COOMET projects in the field of "Thermometry and Thermal Physics" was also discussed. The most interesting was the report on the reproduction of Kelvin by the method of conditional primary thermometry based on phase transitions of high temperature metal-carbon eutectics, as well as the report on measurements of the Boltzmann constant by an acoustic thermometer.
A seminar on humidity was also held, where the issues of metrological support for measuring relative humidity in the serial production of thermohygrometers were considered. The seminar presented reports on modern standard equipment in the field of humidity, on the metrological support of measuring instruments for the temperature of condensation of hydrocarbons.
All participants noted the high level of organization of the rally and the seminar, for which they expressed gratitude to the management and specialists of the East-Siberian branch of FSUE VNIIFTRI.
